We are one of the largest agricultural terminals in Klaipėda, and the loading figures prove it.
"The month of May was a record month for the terminal with a total cargo of almost 180,000 tonnes. The major part of the achieved cargo was cereals, of which we loaded more than 120,000 tonnes onto ships. Historically, in the second half of the season, we have not handled such a large volume of cereals in a single month," says Julius Kiršis, our terminal director.
According to him, the end of the grain season was a busy one, with the loading of the old crop onto the ships well ahead of schedule and the preparation of the warehouses in time for the new harvest.
It is not easy to predict the loading volumes for the coming grain season, as each year varies due to natural and market conditions and therefore has its own specificities and differences. One factor of concern today is nature itself, which may have an impact on lower grain yields.
"We have new warehouses, the latest handling equipment. We can offer our customers a complete bulk service at the terminal: warehousing, packing and unrestricted loading to/from Panamax vessels," says Mr Kiršis.
